Eligibility criteria for Patent Agent Examination:

·         Citizen of India

·         Age- Completed 21 years

·         Obtained degree in Science/engineering (B. Pharmacy, M. Pharmacy, M.Sc., B.Sc., B. Tech, M. Tech)

Pattern of Exam:

Patent exam divided in three parts: Two written paper and viva voce

Paper-1 (40 objective and 60 subjective questions)

In paper-1 question based on the patents act and rules in the form of fill in the blanks, true or false, match the followings

Paper- 2 (on case studies, asked to draft a patent specification)

Paper-3 (viva voce)

CANDIDATE QUALIFY THE EXAM IF HE/SHE SCORE AGGREGATE 60% AND 50% IN EACH PAPER WITH VIVA VOCE

How to apply for Patent Agent exam:

Patent Agent examination is conducted twice a year

Apply for examination on: www.ipindia.nic.in

Preparation for Patent Agent Exam:

Practice previous year’s paper

Candidate goes through Patent Act and Rules 1970 (published by universal publishers)

Indian Act and Rules published by Indian Patent Office 2008, 2011.

Registration for Patent Agent:

After qualifying the exam candidate should register itself (through form 22).

Fees: 2000 for Registration
