NM, NN -Ion channel-direct action
2.Biogenic amines

A. Nor epinephrine (feel good neurotansmitter) It gives people bursts of energy. Basically, it makes the body feel as good and energized as the body ever can. Meanwhile, noradrenaline sends out brain signals which increase focus. The combination of dopamine and these two (adrenaline and nor adrenaline) leaves people feeling alert and happy.
Excitatory as well as inhibitory
α- α1, α2
β- β1, β2, β3

α1, α2, β1, β2, β3- GPCR via secondary messengers
α1- IP3-DAG pathway (Gq)
α2-cAMP pathway  (Gi, Go)
β1, β2, β3-cAMP pathway (Gs)
B.Dopamine (feel good neurotansmitter)
Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that keeps a stressed body feeling good.
Excitatory as well as inhibitory
(mainly inhibitory)
D1, D2,D3,D4,D5
D1-5 - GPCR – via secondary messengers
D1- cAMP pathway (Gs)
D2- cAMP pathway (Gi,Go)

C.  Serotonin (5-HT)
(feel good neurotransmitter)
People who suffer from depression do have lower levels of serotonin.
Excitatory as well as inhibitory
(mainly inhibitory)
5-HT1, 5-HT2, 5-HT3, 5-HT4
5-HT1, 5-HT2, 5-HT4 -GPCR-via secondary messengers

GABAB-GPCR-via secondary messengers
GABAA- via ion channel
GABAB-cAMP pathway (Gi,Go)
B.Glutamate
Excitatory
NMDA, AMPA, Kainate-ion channel
Via ion channel
C.Glycine

D.Cholecystokinin

CCKa, CCKb
CCKa
 CCKb –GPCR via secondary messengers
E.Substance-P/Tachykinins
Substance P and the NK1 receptor found in brain regions that are specific to regulating emotion (hypothalamus, amygdala, and the periaqueductal gray). They are found in close association with serotonin(5-HT) and neurons containing norepinephrine that are targeted by the currently used antidepressant drugs
Excitatory

NK1, NK2, NK3–GPCR via secondary messengers
NK1, NK2, NK3-IP3-DAG pathway and cAMP pathway (Gs) (NK-neurokinins)
F.Tachykinins
The tachykinin receptor 1 (TACR1) also known as neurokinin 1 receptor (NK1R) or substance P receptor (SPR) is a G protein coupled receptor found in the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system.
